New Holland will embark on a 10-date country-wide tour on 8 September, taking their eclectic and catchy brand of “party rock ‘n’ roll” to their hordes of music-hungry fans in the Free State, Gauteng and the East Coast. “We are all very excited to have the opportunity of touring the country again. We are looking forward to connecting with our fans and dishing out some more of the party rock and roll that they have come to know and love”.
The band is currently working on third full-length album, due for release in the first half of 2011. “ The ideas are sounding really cool. The album itself will be a lot more rounded, drawing on the best elements of both 01 and Exploded Views, and obviously mixing in some new flavors.”
New Holland recently recorded a brand-new single which will be hitting SA airwaves very soon. “Our new single is a kwaito-esque take on New Holland. It is perhaps what we would have sounded like if we hailed from the Transkei. The song itself is about our experiences while on holiday there, and was inspired by the positive energy of the area.
While on tour, New Holland will also appear live on DSTV channel MK’s Studio 1 on Thursday 16 September. On Sunday 12 September, Teejay, Gerdus, Buckle and Odi will be visiting the Menlyn Look & Listen branch to meet fans and sign copies of their SAMA-nominated album Exploded Views, as well as their debut album, 01.
“...overwhelming energy and flawless stage performance…”
Jurgen Von Wechmar – Sunset Recording Studios
“New Holland’s strength is in producing beautiful, melody-driven songs with a solid beat. I was captivated from the very first track...”
Etienne Buys - www.capetownunderground.co.za
Since their arrival on the SA music scene three years ago, New Holland has become synonymous with high-energy shows in packed out venues. Since 2007, New Holland has toured South Africa extensively, playing to massive crowds at all the major SA music festivals, including Splashy Fen, Oppikoppi and Ramfest, as well as the KKNK Arts Festival, Maties Rag, Tuks Jool, Avontoer and Groot Gees Rockfees.
In March this year, New Holland was nominated for a 2010 SA Music Award in the Best English Rock Album category for their 2009 album Exploded Views. The band was invited to perform at the SAMA Awards Ceremony at Sun City over the weekend of 16 – 18 April, where Teejay and Gerdus performed an acoustic set on the Friday night, as well as an acoustic live set broadcast on 5FM show Live(5) on the Saturday.
In April, the Grease-inspired music video for the second single, “Freedom!”, reached no 1 on the MK Top 10 chart where it remained for 10 weeks altogether, spending two weeks at #1.
In June “Freedom!” was made available as free download to YOU and Huisgenoot readers when Teejay and Gerdus were featured in a Day In The Life double-page photo spread. The band was invited to perform at World Cup events at the FIFA MTN World Cup Fan Parks at the V&A Waterfront and the Bellville Velodrome in Bellville, Cape Town. The band also played a coveted Sunday night slot at Oppikoppi Sexy.Crooked.Teeth festival in August
Lately, New Holland has been in the studio, working on their third album (due for release in 2011) and a brand-new single, set for release in September. In September, the band will set out on a nationwide tour that will see them play ten gigs across the country to satisfy the demand from fans.

Introducing Cape Town`s new music management company: Apollo Artist Agency. The company came about as a natural progression when Brendan Sterley (Former Manager Punskelm, Fokofpolisiekar and aKING) teamed up with Dawid, Henk and Janneman Fourie (Audiomatik Events & Ramfest). In joining their skills to offer a professional service in assisting artists/bands with the administrative side of their careers, Apollo Artists Agency is happy to announce that everthing is now in place for take off.
The goal of Apollo Artist Agency is to create a structure where new or existing artists and bands can slot into an environment where Apollo handles the daily business, marketing, and logistical tasks required to help create and support a successful brand. In this way the artist can focus on their artistic expression and reap the benefits of a creatively structured management agency.
Apollo ultimately honors a band as a brand and the most important aspect of the agency will be to build up this brand and establish and manage a concept that will present and enhance the band`s profile in a competitive industry.
Apollo will be working with artists and DJ`s from a wide variety of genres including Rock, Country, Hip Hop, Dubstep and Drum and Bass. Van Coke Kartel, Stepdog, P.H Fat, SFR, Hyphen and Psydstep is already signed to Apollo Artists Agency and will be performing at the launch party.
Brendan Sterley is excited about the new venture: “Due to a lack of artist-management agencies in general, artists and bands have been trying to create music, as well as market and manage themselves. This, more often than not, has proven to be an almost impossible task. We are providing a platform for bands to excel and ultimately make a living from their music. The artists will be able to focus on their artistic expression and reap the benefits of the support of a creatively structured management agency.”
Tickets for the public will be limited to only 200 and a cost of R30 each.
Tickets will be available at the door on the night on a first come first serve bases.

Audiences will once again identify with the loveable characters of Wimpie, Katrien, Fanie and Japie, Liezl and Christie with Werner still up to his usual tricks, and a few other hilarious surprises thrown into the mix.
The story continues two years later where Bakgat! left off – the group of friends have now left school and are at University. Wimpie (Ivan Botha) is now the U/21 Rugby Hero and is presented with an international opportunity of a lifetime. He gets caught in a tug of war with his love for the game playing against the love of his life, Katrien (Cherie van der Merwe), who doesn’t want to travel away from South Africa, as she’s found her passion in teaching autistic children. Added to this are the comical antics of the other characters; Fanie (Andrew Thompson) struggles to get used to the new Christie (Ciske Kruger Botha) and Japie (Neil Sharim) is experiencing “size” problems of his own in his relationship with Liezl (Lelia Etsebeth). Muscleman, Werner “Killer” Botha (Altus Theart), joins the Varsity team and threatens Wimpie’s place in the U/21 team.
Bakgat! 2 is jam packed with fun, a positive South African theme and a whole lot of surprises. The movie centres around “Will Wimpie or won’t he?”…You’ll just need to see the movie in September to find out.

Two-times SAMA Awards winners Foto Na Dans is back with DIE VLOED, their third full-length album. After more than a year of working on the album, the end result is a grandscale, progressive-rock production which at times reminds of the concept albums of the Seventies. This powerful album remains, however, constantly true to Foto Na Dans’s eclectic style, and deserves to be listened to at top volume on the best sound system possible.
The voices of Judite Strydom and Janie Bay, which explores new atmospheric spaces, perfectly compliment that of lead singer LeRoi Nel, while Neil Basson once again proves himself as one of our foremost local musical innovators. Under his guidance modern electronic and organic rock meets to create something exciting and totally innovative.
DIE VLOED is an emotionally-evocative and complex album, with the music sometimes simultaneously sombre, romantic, nihilistic, cynical and poetic. Yet the group’s trademark energy runs like a golden thread through each of the eleven tracks. It is, in particular, the sinister “Daar Wag Iets”, the anthemic “Die Vloed” and the moving “Konings” that will capture fans’ imaginations. “Afrikaans”, Foto Na Dans’s hit collaboration with Flash Republic, is also included on the album.
DIE VLOED was recorded at Calahari Cosmos Studios, Cape Town and produced by Neil Basson.
The Making and Breaking of Foto Na Dans
In the week before DIE VLOED’s release on 1 August, a “mockumentury” about Foto Na Dans was broadcast on DSTV music channel MK. The series chronicles Foto Na Dans’s sessions at Calahari Cosmos music studio during the recording of their new album, DIE VLOED. Initially it appears to be a run-of-the-mill “behind-the-scenes” look while the band works on their new album. But viewers soon see matters spiral out of control, and not even a stern visit from their record boss (look out for a cameo by Rhythm Records ‘s Albert du Plessis) can ensure the future of Foto Na Dans.
DIE VLOED was produced by Testify Films, with the concept by Jacques Koudstaal and directed by Jaco Smit. Text by Jaco Smit & Jacques Koudstaal.
